Introduction.
The Low Lying Leg Raise is a core muscle exercise that targets the abdominals. This is an isolation exercise which is well suited to beginner lifters.
Alternatives.
Technique.
- Lie flat on a mat with your hands down by your sides and palms down on the mat.
- Lift your legs up to 45 degrees by consciously contracting your ab muscles, shortening the distance between the bottom and top of your abs, until your legs are vertical.
- Lower your legs slowly and stop when your feet are just above the ground. Repeat until you have reached failure.
- Keep your legs straight throughout and breathe out as you lift your legs.
